ALTERNATIVE
Trainwell is a subscription service: you pay Trainwell, and it matches you with one of its trainers in its app. Its FAQ states $149 USD a month, billed in 3-month increments plus taxes, with a 14-day free trial (as of October 2026). FitConnect is a different thing and a Trainwell alternative in two ways: a marketplace where you can hire an independent professional directly, and software that lets trainers and nutritionists run their own client business (Free for 1 client, then EUR 14.99, 29.99 and 49.99 a month). Pick Trainwell for a ready-made, app-based service; pick FitConnect to choose and pay a professional yourself, or to coach under your own name.

Trainwell cost and pricing in 2026

Trainwell publishes its price in its FAQ. As of October 2026 it states $149 USD a month for unlimited 1-on-1 training, "billed in 3-month increments" plus applicable taxes. That includes a dedicated trainer, a workout program the trainer updates, unlimited messaging and video calls, and the app. Subscriptions renew automatically and can be cancelled in the app.

There is a 14-day free trial with a 40-minute call with your trainer, one per customer. Billing is in USD only. Trainwell says trainer availability is based on US time zones. Outside the US, expect your bank's currency conversion on top.

How Trainwell works

According to Trainwell's how-it-works page, you take a quiz, video call a trainer, get a personalized plan and adjust it as you train. The FAQ adds that you choose from suggested trainers and can switch whenever you like. Trainwell's site also lists countries and US cities where it is offered, so check the locations page.

What FitConnect is, and what it is not

FitConnect does not sell a subscription that matches you with a trainer from a pool. It has two sides: software that independent trainers and nutritionists use to run their clients, and a public marketplace where clients find verified professionals and hire one directly. You deal with that person, and you can work with more than one, each with their own plan.

FitConnect pricing for trainers

If you are a trainer or nutritionist, FitConnect is flat per plan: Free (1 client), Starter EUR 14.99 a month (15 clients), Pro EUR 29.99 (50 clients, AI drafts included) and Unlimited EUR 49.99 (no client cap). Annual billing is ten months for twelve. Prices are in euros and not converted here.

Subscriptions exclude FitConnect's 10% commission, plus 21% Spanish IVA on that commission, on client payments taken through the platform. Those payments are in EUR and available only to professionals in Spain, or in another EU country with a VIES-validated VAT number. US and UK professionals cannot take client payments through FitConnect today and should keep their current payment tool.

Where Trainwell is stronger

  • A ready-made service: no search, no negotiation, one monthly bill.
  • A quiz-based match with suggested trainers and free switching.
  • A 14-day trial with a 40-minute introductory call.
  • Live pacing and form guidance in the app, with motion tracking on supported watches.
  • HSA/FSA reimbursement for eligible US customers, per its FAQ.

Where FitConnect fits better

  • You want to choose and agree terms with an independent professional yourself.
  • You want a nutritionist's diet plan, not only eating tips.
  • You work with more than one professional, each with their own plan.
  • You are a trainer who wants your own clients, plans and chat under your name.
  • AI drafts a plan, and the professional reviews it before you see it.

Who should choose which

Choose Trainwell if you want an app-led service with a trainer assigned from suggestions and a clear monthly price. Choose a FitConnect professional if you prefer a direct relationship, a nutritionist, or a coach in your language and time zone, after checking that the marketplace has one for you. Trainers who want an independent business should look at FitConnect's plans.

How to switch if you are a trainer

  1. Check what your agreement with any service says about clients and materials before you take anything with you.
  2. Create a FitConnect account and rebuild your two or three most used templates.
  3. Start with one client on the Free plan and check the plan, check-in and chat flow.
  4. Upgrade to the plan that fits your roster. If you are in the US or UK, keep collecting client payments with your current tool, because FitConnect cannot process them for you today. In Spain or the EU, remember the 10% commission plus 21% IVA on it.
  5. Stop using your old tool only after your last client is active on FitConnect.

Trainwell reviews: what to test

Reviews are a starting point, not a decision. Use the free trial and judge what you can test: how fast your trainer replies, whether the plan fits your equipment and injuries, and whether you would pay the full price after the trial. Try one or two FitConnect professionals too, and compare the total monthly cost.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Trainwell cost?

As of October 2026, Trainwell's FAQ states $149 USD a month for unlimited 1-on-1 training, billed in 3-month increments, plus any applicable taxes. It also says plans can renew monthly, quarterly or annually depending on the plan you choose, so check the exact price at checkout. There is no long contract; you can cancel in the app.

Trainwell pricing: is there a free trial?

Yes. The FAQ describes a 14-day free trial that includes a free 40-minute call with your trainer, a custom plan in the app and near-daily contact. It starts on the day of your first trainer call, and each customer gets one.

What is the Trainwell cost in the UK?

Trainwell says it is available to international customers, in English, with trainer availability based on US time zones and all subscriptions billed in USD. We found no separate GBP price, so a UK customer should expect the USD price converted by their bank and should check the total at checkout.

What is the Trainwell app, and what do you get?

Per Trainwell's site, the app delivers your trainer's workout plan with step-by-step guidance, tracks sets, pacing and range of motion, and lets you message and video call your trainer. It supports Apple Watch and Wear OS watches, and works with iPhone and Android phones.

How much is Trainwell compared with an independent coach?

At $149 a month the price works out to about $1,788 over a year if the rate holds. Independent coaches set their own prices, so a direct comparison needs real quotes. On FitConnect, check professional profiles in the marketplace for people who work in your language and time zone, and agree the price and payment method with them.

Can I find a coach near me or in my language on FitConnect?

We cannot promise that. Coverage depends on which professionals have joined, so check the marketplace before you commit. In-platform payment is only available with professionals based in Spain, or in another EU country with a VIES-validated VAT number; with any other professional, payment is arranged directly with them.

I am a trainer. Can I use FitConnect instead of working for a service like Trainwell?

You can run your own clients with FitConnect: plan builder, diets, check-ins and chat. If you are in the US or UK, FitConnect cannot take your client payments today, so keep your current payment tool. Check any agreement you have with a service before taking its clients with you.
